STAGE I - SCREENING | SSB preparation coaching jaipur

Stage I - Screening
PPDT - Picture Perception and Discussion Test

Screening is the preliminary stage for filtering out the potential candidates from all the candidates who have applied for the SSB. In screening, the selection is done based on following two tests. Verbal and Non-Verbal Test: In this part of the selection procedure, the assessors test the OIR (Officer’s intelligence Rate) of the candidate.

For this part of the testing students are provided with handouts of sample questions to practice and analyse how the process works. As it is a time-based section, we encourage every candidate to practice hard and assist them in resolving doubts. ssb interview coaching in jaipur

Candidates are made to write, narrate and then discuss a made-up story relative to an image shown to them. This is again a time bound section as the applicant gets 30 seconds to look at a random hazy image, 1 minute to write the outline and 4 minutes to write the story. This is followed by a narration of that story and then discussion over the same.

Here, we primarily teach our students about the basic guidelines for this section and the methodology which is to be followed while writing. We make available a bank of similar images to our students to practice, meanwhile analysing the stories and making corrections. The candidates are given enough exposure to fine tune this portion. ssb preparation coaching jaipur

Psychology Test
TAT - Thematic Apperception Test
WAT - Word Association Test

At the SSB, after the list of candidates who have cleared the Stage I is declared, the second stage begins. This stage involves four tests to check the psychological suitability of the candidate as an officer.

We, at the academy, are aware that each candidate possesses a unique mindset and therefore the results of initial screening at the admission stage empower us to read much into the mental psyche of the candidate. Initially, we explain each section of the four tests being conducted and then follow an effective method to orient the aspirant in the right direction.

This part of the psychological testing involves the activity like PPDT from the Stage I of the selection process excluding the narration and discussion. A total of 11 crystal clear pictures are shown to the candidate one by one. Picture stays there for 30 seconds. Then 4 minutes are allotted to each candidate to weave a story out of the picture and this process continues 12 times back to back. The 12th slide is a blank slide where the candidate must make up any story out of his imagination. This test is basically conducted to explore the subconscious mind of the candidate.

Right approach and time management play a key role here. We have an abundant collection of the similar type of images that are shown in actual SSB. We assist the candidates to chisel out the red herrings and properly orchestrate and fine tune the approach with prudent time management. best ssb interview coaching in jaipur

Candidates are shown a total of 60 words on screen every 15 seconds and candidate has to write a sentence using that specific word. This test is done to understand the character of the candidate as in 15 seconds, he’ll only be able to write what comes to his mind first.

This aspect of the test requires sustained practice and the right sentence structuring. The basic concept underlying in this type of test is stressed upon so that the thought process is channelized in the right direction. best ssb preparation coaching jaipur

SD - Self Description Test
SAT - Situation Reaction Test

Candidates are required to write opinion about themselves and of their parents, friends, teachers and things they would like to develop in future within allotted time which will be 15 minutes.

The students are exposed to the tenets of writing such self-appraisals through adequate mock tests.

This test is in form of a booklet with 60 situations written on it and the candidate has to write the responses to all of them in 30 minutes. This test is conducted to test the common sense, mental stability and typical thought process of the candidate.

At IDEA, we train the mental faculties of the candidate, through our vast course material provided which has innumerable situations, so that the basic approach to understand the strategy develops while writing their reaction.

GTO Tasks
GD - Group Discussion
GPE - Group Planning Excercise

After Psychological testing in Stage-II, the candidates are given a series of outdoor tasks. The candidates perform these tasks in groups. The basic intent being to judge the candidate’s performance as a team player and as an individual. Group Testing Officer (GTO) conducts this stage of selection process. There are a total of nine tasks.

The group is provided with Group Discussion topics and the candidates have to first select and then discuss the topic.

To perform this task well, the nuances of public/group speaking with the right tenor through Personality Development Lectures and Training Sessions on important national issues and current affairs are provided to the candidates constantly. Best SSB Coaching near me

In Group Planning Exercise, a map is provided for which each candidate has to write his/her plan of action for the given problem. The group members are required to hold a discussion on the problem and come up with a common plan having common consensus. Nominated group member from each team has to explain the common plan of action.

To overcome the problems in such tasks, proper briefing with regards to detailed and precise study of the map correlating to the problem is imparted to the candidates.

PGT is a task that involves provision of a set of obstacles in a specified area. During this task, team members have to cross each obstacle defined by set of rules. To cross those obstacles, some helping materials are given by the G.T.O. The task has been named Progressive group task as the difficulty of the task increases from one obstacle to another in a progressive manner.

Regular guidance on ingenuity and decision making with on-field tips are given to candidates on numerous examples of such type of tasks in order to prepare them adequately.

The group members are made to compete with each other in form of groups in this task. There are certain rules to be followed in this task as well.

In this task, the GTO provides four topics to the candidate out of which the candidate is to select one topic and give a 3 minute lecture on it.

The academy provides adequate exposure on varied topics along with an expert guidance and methodology to deliver such time bound lectures.

This task is similar to the PGT. The only difference is that the no. of group members is half the number of group members in PGT.

In all there are 10 obstacles which a candidate is required to attempt individually outdoors at a specified place. Each obstacle consists of some points from 1 to 10 based on which GTO does the scoring.

As the name suggests each candidate, in turn, becomes the commander of the group. He/she is required to cross some obstacles, designed on field, with the help of 2-3 subordinates which are to be selected from the candidate’s very own group.

Last of the series, basically to put the whole group together, the task given is similar to PGT and the group is asked to attempt it against a severe restriction of time.

Personal Interview

The Personal Interview (PI) can be said as a purposeful conversation between the candidate and the Interviewing officer for about 50 to 60 minutes on any of the day after the Psychological Tests. The primary purpose is to check for Officer like Qualities (OLQs) in the candidate appearing for the SSB.

At the Academy , for each candidate, particular emphasis is laid to firstly identify the lack of OLQs and then the ways to build the same qualities is undertaken through a series of interviews on one-on one basis. Best SSB Coaching near me
